SADDLE UP

is this not the most obviously practical and most beautiful thing you've ever seen? and i can totally fit at least three tall cans of beer in there. i dunno about you, but shit like this reminds me of "the sound of music". which is like one of the most amazing movies of all time. now i just need a bike. for those of you who actually has a bike and the money, you can cop this bad boy here.

SKINS

doc martens and flight jackets. what else do you need? while skinheads today usually take a bad rap, let's not forget that the original skins were dapper dons of the sixties and seventies who was as much influenced by jamaican rude boys as mods. and the last time i checked, jamaicans were black.

STUDIO

i'm usually not a fan of studio shots because i like the drama that a proper location can add. but i do like this picture. it reminds me of old avadon images from the fifties. there's something very classic about it's composition even though you have this totally un-classic blue bubble of chiffon walking straight towards you.

JOY DIVISION

remember the days when bands weren't manufactured by titanic record labels and they wore their own clothes? thirty years later and even with all the stylists in the world, those cats still look like the fliest mother fuckers who has ever walked the face of the earth. plus the fact that their music is basically a religion in itself. and just like jesus, ian curtis was a total babe.

KIRSTEN OWEN

most criminally underrated model EVER! you can't even imagine how gutted i was when i found out she walked the joe fresh show. i basically cried myself to sleep. how many opportunities will i ever have to see this woman in the flesh again? probably nil. another thing to add to my growing list of regrets.

OWLS!

funny things happen when you're unemployed. if you thought you spent way too much time online when you had a job, multiply that by about a hundred fold and you'll have a clear picture on just how i spend my lazy, impoverished days. today i collected images of vintage owl figurines. i'm proper obsessed with them. even braved the cold today to venture out to value village to see if they got any. alas, there was none. i did however managed to score a rather handsome wooden bowl that would go perfectly with my yet to find vintage restaurant table for the kitchen. however all was not lost. i'm actually going to meet up with some random lass tomorrow i met on craigslist cause she has two of said owls for sale for a tenner! i'm foaming all around the mouth right now for the prospect of kick starting a wicked owl collection.

BOY LONDON

guys in heels and skinny goth has bored the wits outta me. hooray for the boys in london town for dusting off their old school boy uniforms and geeking out. and big ups to the rude boys in bandanna paisley puffas, baggy sweats and shearling lined parkas a la slick rick. these are clothes not made for posing. roll up 'em sleeves young gentlemen, it's okay to smile. men's fashion looks fun again!

BRIGHT STAR

bright star, would I were stedfast as thou art--
not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
and watching, with eternal lids apart,
like nature's patient, sleepless eremite,
the moving waters at their priestlike task
of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
of snow upon the mountains and the moors--
no--yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
to feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
and so live ever--or else swoon to death.

i want a love like john keats and fanny brawne. a tear jerker kinda love. a love that loves beautifully and everything is seen through rose tinted lenses. apparently me and "bright star" director jane campion share the same sentiment. it's a sunday movie to cuddle with your sweetheart with an extra large box of kleenex.
